Chapter One: Introduction
1.1 Background of the Study
With the global shift toward digital learning, online education has become a crucial component of educational systems, particularly in remote and underserved areas. In Misau Local Government Area, Bauchi State, digital media platforms such as online learning platforms, educational YouTube channels, and social media groups have been increasingly utilized to promote access to education. The role of digital media in enhancing access to educational resources, connecting students to teachers, and providing a platform for interactive learning is critical, especially in a region where traditional educational infrastructure may be lacking. This study seeks to explore how digital media has promoted online education in Misau, focusing on its effectiveness in improving access, engagement, and learning outcomes.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
While online education offers tremendous potential to bridge educational gaps, particularly in remote areas like Misau, challenges such as limited internet access, low digital literacy, and inadequate technological infrastructure hinder its widespread adoption. Furthermore, there is limited research on how digital media specifically promotes online education in Misau LGA. This study aims to fill this gap by examining the role of digital media in enhancing online education in the area.
